Laboratory Policy and Fee:

All courses offered by MITS will have theory and practical completely separated except computer courses. This de-linking has been done to facilitate distance education program. Traditionally the laboratory work is spread over the duration of the course, but MITS does not see such a requirement. MITS will provide highly customized education and depending upon a candidates' long term requirements will recommend the amount of lab work that a candidate needs to complete.   The candidate will have to bear the actual expenses for doing the lab work and will have to be physically located near the lab for the duration of lab work. Most of the labs will be in MITS campus but they can be anywhere within India. The lab work is divided into two categories

(a) University lab work:

The candidate will do all the experiments in a short span of time. Normally two weeks to one month per year and depending on the recommendations of Student Counselor.

(b) Scientific and Industrial lab work ( Called Practice School ):

There will be two types of Practice Schools. A short one for a duration of 2 months (called Practice School I )  and a long one for a duration of 6 months (called Practice School II ).

Practice Schools will be done in real life environment and will be a major factor in preparing the student for his/ her career.

A student can repeat the lab work and practice schools as many times as he / she wants to repeat, provided he / she can pay for that. There are good chances that during Practice School the student earns money for the apprenticeship but this is not guaranteed.

The students who do not do the lab work/ Practice School don't have to pay fee for these items. The degree certificates will indicate if the course was completed with the associated lab work. Individual Lab work/ Practice School will receive certificates to indicate the achievements.

Certification and Fees:

Certificates for courses will be issued after the candidate passes the examination conducted by MITS. These examinations are scheduled round the year and a candidate can register for any of the available exams. MITS certification and teaching are totally independent. A candidate can apply for MITS certification without undergoing teaching process at MITS. The eligibility conditions to take a Certification Exam are described in MITS Certification

Text Material:

There are two categories of text material:

(1) Prepared by MITS and

(2) Available in open market

Buying Text Material from MITS is optional. The students who do not purchase text material from MITS do not have to pay "Text material fee." Students can buy the text material from open market or share it with other students. There is a possibility that text books used by one batch can be passed to the next batch. No guarantees made.

Exam Fee:

Final exams for each course are to be taken at one of MITS Exam Centers. You are likely to take these exams once per semester. Several dates will be announced and you can schedule the exams on a date convenient to you. If you cancel the exam one month in advance, the fee for exam will be refunded.
