melting ice in parts of the Northern Hemisphere. The
Indonesian Archipelago formed along with many other islands.
People from Sub Mongoloid regions married with the

local culture. Hindu systems of government, monarchy,

Mahabharat, Ramayan, and the Vedas reached Indonesia. Native
kings had kingdoms in parts of islands. There were mostly
diplomatic relations between kingdoms. |

Alexandria, a Greek man, wrote on Indonesia and complimented the
government system, agriculture, navigation, and astronomy.
Metal works, metric system, printed coins, and the batik
process of printing cloth were used here. |

The first Dutch traders came to
Indonesia and started conquering it. The Dutch ended up ruling
Indonesia on and off for the next 300 years. |

Japan took
over Indonesia. |

Independence
from the Dutch was gained. Achmed Sukarno became the 1st
president and established a close relationship with China. |

Suharto took over the country and became a dictator. |
